Darkness of hate flees before the Light of God
The hate of Islamic terrorism displayed itself in Bondi here in Sydney. In particular, it aimed that toxic hatred against the Jewish people in a gutless attack on unarmed innocents. It caused fear and panic and brought a new breed of darkness into our beautiful city. But within days the people of our Sydney were back at the iconic beach to pay tribute to the fallen. Shaken, yes, but resolved to continue living in the freedom that Australia provides its citizens.
Days later Christmas brings the people of Sydney together to celebrate with loved ones. At this critical time it is important to recall again that the Hope of the World was Jesus, born a Jew, and the promised Messiah of Jewish faith. With Him came healing, truth, salvation and light to all.
The Bible teaches that Israel are the people who brought God to all mankind and in that Holy Land the Saviour was born into the world. We celebrate His birth and we honour His people.
“The people walking in darkness have seen a great light; on those living in the land of deep darkness a light has dawned.”
Isaiah 9:2
a joyous chritmas to all
“Now there were in the same country shepherds living out in the fields, keeping watch over their flock by night. And behold, an angel of the Lord stood before them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were greatly afraid.” Luke 2:8–9
And there was indeed no need to fear but rather to celebrate. The light that illuminated the world that first Christmas was the Glory of the Lord and Christ Himself was, and still is, that light - the light of hope for all.
As is written in John 1:4: "In Him was life and the life was the light for all mankind!"
So a happy and joyour Christmas to everyone!
waters of life
Recently the church made the quick trip to Woolwich where we conducted our yearly water baptism event.
We were blessed to have five people baptised and make a public declaration of their faith in Christ as well as commitment to follow Him in earnest.
Ages ranged from 8 to 60. Those baptised included a couple from Germany who have been staying in Hunters Hill as well as a new convert to Christianity in her 20s.
The water was a perfect temperature and to add the icing on the cake the sun emerged from behind clouds as Pastor Alex and Myles stepped out onto the water to receive those being baptised. A wonderful experience!
